NMK-Bulletin-from-December18th 2025 meeting We had a fun time at our combined holiday meeting and joint meeting with Rotary. No meeting on Christmas Day or on New Years Day, both of which fall on a Thursday this year! Check out the NMK calendar – in the yellow link above! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.

NMK-Bulletin-from-December11th 2025 meeting All things Christmas. Next week, the 18th, we will be visiting Rotary at ‘Greens on Tenth’ and having our Christmas meeting with them. Christmas Basket Distribution is coming up on Saturday at 8:30am, based at the Graffiti museum. Lots of delivery people are needed. Modesto City Parks and Rec came to talk about the Leisure Bucks program that our Christmas Breakfast event supports, and they received a check.

NMK Bulletin for January 23rd 2025 Cindy Bauer is organizing Kindness Week activities at her school and invites Kiwanians to join in the Welcome Tunnel. Our entry for Kiwanis International’s Signature Project competition has been submitted, it seeks recognition for American Graffiti.

NMK Bulletin for January 16th 2025 Lots of events coming up including teh mid-year Key Club convention. Our interclub to Atwater was cancelled and we will reschedule. Happy and sad bucks.

NMK Bulletin for January 9th 2025 Happy New Year. After a couple of weeks without meetings we had our first meeting of the New Year. Lots of Happy Bucks and the ‘Apron Reading’ for Chelsea.

NMK-Bulletin-October 24th 2024 Many remembrances for Rich Reimche were given. Our program was the return of Barbie the doll, in the form of the Be Anything Museum where a collection of 300 varied Barbies allows everyone to imagine being whoever they want.

NMK-Bulletin-October 17th 2024 As the presidential election approaches, we have a non-partisan election program from Randy Siefkin. Randy provided various probability indicators , election memorabilia and history. Britta Skavdahl, our still active mid western member was able to attend teh meeting in person. Good to see you Britta.

NMK-Bulletin-October 10th Great program today with the always dynamic Sam Pierstorff who explained the new Modesto Artists Movement and the revived Queen Bean which will become a performance and arts center. Several Kiwanians will be going ‘Over the Edge’ this Saturday to raise money for Learning Quest.

NMK-Bulletin-9.26.24 We learned about a relatively young nonprofit, Central Valley Tykes and Trykes, which is providing adaptive tricycles to children with special needs. Also, Tim Ragsdale shared about his exciting ride-along with an MPD K-9 officer.

Bulletin for Sept 19 2024 meeting A rousing musical welcome for new president Laura Maki. Today’s program was new member Andrew Hendricks sharing behind the scenes story of the notorious rapist and murderer referred to as the East Side Rapist and later the Golden State Killer. Early in his crime spree he was a police officer.

Bulletin for Sept 12 2024 meeting Superintendent Sara Noguchi provided an upbeat progress report on academics and facilities in the Modesto City Schools. Reminder: Ana Kanbara is deinstalled as president and Laura Maki assumes the gavel at the dinner Friday night (Sept. 13) at Randy & Denise’s house. 6 p.m.

Bulletin for Aug 29 2024 Modesto Fire chief Kevin Wise presented the history of our city fire service, its current form and ongoing work. A botle of Romanian Brandy was auctioned off.Dues are due!

Bulletin from Aug 8 2024 meeting We met at the beautiful Great Valley Museum,. where President Ana shared the latest donations approved by the board and museum staff member Eden Chung talked about the many ways that the museum serves children and youth, both on campus and through traveling programs.

Bulletin for Aug 1 2024 meeting A speaker cancellation morphed into a meeting with lots of happy and sad bucks and sharing and laughs. We left knowing a little bit more about each other. Next week, Aug. 8, we will meet at the Great Valley Museum on the MJC West Campus.

Bulletin for July 18 2024 We heard an update from Dean Dodd, founder and director of the Shower Shuttle, which operates two shower shuttles and a laundry shuttle to give dignity to homeless in Modesto. Reminder of the Graffiti celebration for members and their spouses/guests Wednesday, July 24 at the Reed Carmuseum.

Bulletin for May16, 2024 meeting We heard a sobering presentation about the high number of Fentanyl deaths in Stanislaus County and a heart-breaking story from a mother who lost her son to the highly addictive drug. We are urged to consider having Narcan available in case someone shows signs of the poisoning.

Preparation moves into high gear for the American Graffiti, and retiring MoBand director George Gardner shared history and upcoming theme for the popular Thursday night concerts at Graceada Park.

Bulletin for April 11th 2024 meeting We had the introduction of four, yes four, new members today along with many announcements and a brief Board Meeting report. Look in the bulletin for lots of upcoming events. Next week we host our student scholarship recipients and their families.

Bulletin for April 4th 2024 meeting Our Annual joint meeting with Modesto Sunrise Rotary. It was a packed room that enjoyed the meeting. Ana was happy she has her bell back. We had to let a Rotarian Auctioneer do a great job auctioning off a gift basket.

Bulletin for Feb 22 2024 meeting YES company was the program. Two of their artists gave a beautiful short performance to remind us of the perfect way to start a day. The missing bell saga continues.

Bulletin for Feb 15 2024 meeting February is Black History month. We had a great presentation centering on the Tuskeege airmen but touching on many other aspects of history.

Bulletin from Sept 28 2023 meeting. Lots of happy bucks this morning, and we learned about the mission and goals of the local non-profit radio station 95.5 FM KCBP, which is an all-volunteer project of the Modesto Peace/Life Center.

Bulletin for September 14, 2023. Our new president Ana presided over her first meeting in office. Program by the State Theater with lots of hope for downtown improvements and we all look forward to the new ‘Intermission’ lounge being open.

Bulletin for August 31, 2023. The Kiwanis Bell investigation continues. A report on the Lodi Interclub. A new member, and a corporate one at that, followed by a program on the The Imagination Library of Stanislaus County which is part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. A full meeting as always.

Bulletin for Aug 24 2023. We heard about the Junior Navy Seals program from its director, a parent and an alumni. Also, Graffiti T-shirts are available for those who ordered one.

Bulletin for August 17, 2023. This week we met at the Great Valley Museum at MJC West Campus. Arnold gave the program about the GVM. Afterwards we had a tour. It was a beautiful setting among wilderness and wildlife pictures and exhibits. Rumour has it that our Kiwanis Bell may have been stolen – more later.

Bulletin for August 10, 2023 Steve Ashman from CASA gave us an update, Jewell Kee was inducted and lots of fun and games.

Bulletin for August 3, 2023 Graffitti T shirt day was a huge success. Jennifer had more activities going than a third grade teacher on the last day of school.

Bulletin for July 20th 2023 Program from the Senior Law Center about scams aimed at the older generation. And then Skipper sent a postcard to blow apart the fine avoidance scheme proposed by President Jennifer. Bulletin for June 1st 2023 The meeting was abuzz withh Parade and Car Show preparations. We also had a presentation from the Family Justice Center of Stanislaus County which is doing great work to help victims of abuse and violence.
